Nate (The Great)

Before landing at Northern States Basement Systems, I spent most of my career in finance—which, fun fact, I still absolutely love. In the finance world, I wore a lot of hats and learned a ton about leadership, operations, and taking great care of customers. Along the way, I picked up degrees in criminal justice, sociology, finance, and business management—because apparently, I don’t like to sit still for too long.

In 2025, I stepped into my role as Customer Service Coordinator at Northern States Basement Systems, and I quickly found a new passion: helping people protect what’s usually their biggest investment—their home (and sometimes their business, rental property, or cabin too!). There’s something pretty awesome about knowing we help keep those spaces safe, dry and stable.

On any given day, you’ll find me running the service department, scheduling everything from estimates to service calls, and spending plenty of time on the phone helping customers however I can. I love educating homeowners on why annual maintenance matters and making sure they feel confident about their systems. I’ve proudly earned the title of “right hand” to our General Manager, and I take that role seriously—while still keeping things upbeat and positive. Every day is a little different, and I’m always learning something new.

After years in the fast-paced finance world, I was ready for a better balance. I previously worked with our General Manager Sarah and when she told me about this position, I jumped at the opportunity. This role gives me flexibility—plus, not everyone gets to share their office (and sometimes my lunch) with a couple of lively (and slightly spoiled) office dogs. That’s exactly why my desk and office are fully stocked with treats and toys.

When I’m not at work, you’ll find me spending time at our lake cabin with my wife and family, rewatching movies from the Marvel Universe, or diving into a good book to learn about things that may make the world a little better.
